What is the worst city you've ever been to and why?
Submitted by Soup.
After such an off week (so far...who knows what's in store for today and tomorrow?), I think it's time for a few softball Question of the Days and surveys from MySpace...everyone's favorite! I don't know why I get such perverse pleasure from answering questions...it's like a drug. Maybe I like to imagine that I'm on some talk show and everyone cares about my favorite food or my thoughts on emoticons. But then, what is a blog if not one's own personal talk show?
As for the worst city to which I've ever been, that's tough...most cities are generally like other cities. Sure, there are "super cities," like New York, London, Paris, Rome and Syracuse that have their own unique qualities that seem common, but really influence every other city in the world. But otherwise, Seattle seems very much like San Diego, Orlando seems like Tampa, Boston seems like Atlanta...obviously they all have their own "vibes" and specialties and quirks, but in a general sense, a city is a city is a city.
But the one city that comes to mind when I think of lousy places in the US is Secaucus, New Jersey. As a key city in New Jersey's illustrious Industrial Crown, Secaucus just plain smells bad. This may have changed since the 1980s, when I used to drive through the city with my parents and grandparents, but regardless, it has created an awful impression of the city in my mind.
Maybe some more later....
